Food Safety: Egg Marking
EU egg labeling includes three codes:
1. Number indicating the method of production
2. Letter code for the country of origin
3. Registration number (region code where the egg production facilities are located)
Focus: Method of production
4 levels of production quality in decreasing order:
0 = organic egg production
1 = free-range eggs
2 = deep litter indoor housing
3 = battery cage farming
